Haynes and Boone Earns High Marks in Dallas Diversity Task Force Survey

December 07, 2016

Haynes and Boone, LLP has maintained its high rankings on the Dallas Diversity Task Force’s 2016 Law Firm Diversity Report, which presents a snapshot of the diversity of attorneys practicing at the largest firms in Dallas County.

The firm is ranked No. 2 overall, earning a two-point increase in composite score, and No. 1 in the Checklist Scores for Effort category, which recognizes the firm’s initiatives to "recruit, retain and promote minority attorneys."

The Task Force determined composite scores for each firm based on the racial and ethnic diversity of the firm's attorneys and partners, as compared to the demographics of the State of Texas and the Texas Bar.

“Diversity has always been an integral part of our culture and a key to our success as a firm,” said Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee Chair Kenya Woodruff. “We know that in order to be responsive to the needs of our clients, our lawyers must reflect the diversity of their businesses as well as the communities in which we live and serve.”

Haynes and Boone was awarded the highest score of 100 and tied for No. 1 with respect to Asian-American and Native American attorneys, meaning the firm “meets or exceeds the minority resident percentage in Texas.” In the category of Hispanic/Latino attorneys, the firm ranked No. 2. In addition, Haynes and Boone ranked No. 3 in the percentage of women equity and non-equity partners.

The driving force behind the firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts are the Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee (ADIC) and the Women Attorney Initiatives Committee, composed of partners, associates, counsel and key members of management. These committees set goals for policies and programs related to the recruitment, retention, promotion and professional development of diverse lawyers. Through sub-committees that include Minority Attorney Initiatives, LGBT and Allies Attorney Initiatives, Pipeline Initiatives, Working Parents, Recruiting and Retention, and Business Development, the firm has enacted diversity and equality-related firm policies and programs, as well as implemented innovative initiatives designed to drive minority and female hiring and retention and promote diversity and inclusion as a collective and sustained focus.
