Rafael Anchia Honored by the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association

The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association recently awarded Haynes and Boone, LLP Of Counsel Rafael Anchia with the “La Luz” Award, the organization’s highest honor, at their 10th Annual Noche de Luz celebration.

La Luz, which in English means “The Light,” is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the Dallas legal community by serving as a trailblazer in helping light the way for the success of the Hispanic community through their legal-related contributions.

The award recipient must demonstrate inspirational leadership, courage, integrity, and a commitment to lending a helping hand to others in the legal community. Recipients are selected based on their leadership affecting the Hispanic legal community, significant contributions to the legal profession, courage and integrity, and commitment to the success of individuals in the Hispanic community in general.

"As the son of immigrants who came to this country in search of the American dream, I realize the importance of ensuring that everyone in our community has equal opportunities for success,” said Anchia. “The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association has always taken a leadership role in helping provide such opportunities, which is why I am so honored to have been chosen as the recipient of this award."

At the firm, Anchia maintains an active public finance practice and represents financial institutions and public and private funds in a variety of transactions involving, among other things, senior and subordinated debt and equity, domestic and international syndications and distressed debt acquisitions and sales.

Anchia is also involved in community affairs and public service. He sat on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees from 2001-2004, overseeing a $1 billion budget, 19,000 employees and almost 220 schools in the nation's 12th largest school district. Additionally, Anchia has been elected six times as Texas State Representative for District 103, which includes parts of Dallas, Irving, and Farmers Branch.
