AT&T Legal Diversity Award Honors Haynes and Boone


DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the AT&T Legal Department Diversity Award in the large law firm category.

The award singled out a small, medium and large firm for their activities and accomplishments promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Winners were recognized at AT&T’s March 9 legal conference at the Fairmont Hotel.

“Haynes and Boone strives to reflect our clients’ diversity within our own ranks,” said Haynes and Boone Partner David McAtee, who handles antitrust matters for AT&T. “In 2010 alone, more than half of our attorneys representing AT&T were women or minorities, and we regularly review case staffing to ensure we have assembled the best team for the client and diverse attorneys are receiving equal opportunity.”

Partner and Attorney Diversity Committee Chair Felicity Fowler expressed gratitude for Haynes and Boone’s forward-thinking approach to diversity initiatives. “Firm management strongly believes that diversity enhances innovation and the delivery of quality legal services to a diverse clientele,” Fowler said. “A wide range of perspectives and a unique understanding of the cultural nuances of global markets heightens our ability to strategically and effectively navigate clients’ complex business needs.”

AT&T designed its diversity award to honor law firms representing the “can-do” spirit the worldwide telecommunications company touts in its Rethink Possible campaign. In a letter to award recipients, AT&T General Counsel Wayne Watts thanked the three firms for sharing AT&T’s vision of increased diversity in the legal profession.
