Nicolas Borda to Speak at Energy Day 2017 in Mexico City

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Nicolas Borda has been invited to speak at the 16th annual Energy Day conference, which will be held on Oct. 3 in Mexico City. 

The conference is expected to draw around 600 of the country’s leading energy professionals, including senior government officials, investors, C-Suite Executives, financiers, scientists and attorneys. The conference will explore the future of Mexico’s energy sector in 2020 and beyond and comes at a defining period for the country’s connectivity to energy markets in North America. 

Discussion topics include: the ongoing implementation of Mexico’s landmark energy reform of 2013, which opened the country’s oil and gas and power sectors to private participation; the role that energy is projected to play in Mexico’s broader economy in 2020 and beyond; and how politics is expected to shape the future of energy in Mexico.

Borda will discuss energy topics with a distinguished panel that includes David Madero, CEO of the National Control Center for Natural Gas (CENAGAS); Leonardo Beltran, the Deputy Secretary for Planning and Energy Transition for the Ministry of Energy; and Country Managers of key international companies doing business in Mexico. 

Borda focuses his practice on all facets of oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), power and renewable energy projects. He has been ranked by Chambers Latin America, Chambers & Partners, as Band 1 in Energy and Natural Resources in Mexico in 2012-2018. He has recently been very active in the CENACE long-term auctions, project finance, project development and M&A in renewable energy projects, Round 1 and 2 of CNH, midstream and downstream contractual and regulatory issues, and dispute resolution in the energy sector.
