Haynes and Boone Counsel Catherine Robb Elected to PBS Board

October 31, 2019

Haynes and Boone, LLP Counsel Catherine Robb, who practices media and entertainment law, has been elected to the national board of PBS, which reaches more than 120 million people with its television and digital content.

The 27-person PBS board, which includes the PBS president, is responsible for governing and setting policy for the media company. The board is comprised of professional directors, who are station leaders within the public television system, and general directors like Robb, who serve as lay members of the board.

"As PBS navigates a complex media environment, it is critical that we have the guidance and counsel of leaders from across the nation who have expertise in a broad range of fields," Paula Kerger, president and CEO of PBS, said in a statement announcing the election of Robb and other new board members. "We are fortunate to have such an experienced and talented group of board members.”

The board elected Robb as a member on Sept. 25. She has long served in various leadership roles, including board chair of KLRU-TV, Austin’s PBS station. “I am honored to have been asked to serve on the board and look forward to helping the organization advance its critical mission,” Robb said.

A lawyer in Haynes and Boone’s Austin office, Robb has extensive experience handling First Amendment litigation, pre-publication review and editing, copyright and trademark litigation, general commercial litigation, open government issues and privacy concerns. She advises an extensive array of content providers, including online and traditional newspapers, magazines, radio and broadcasters, cable television stations, production companies and music entities.

Robb writes and speaks frequently on media-law issues and is featured in the 2020 edition of The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc.,) for First Amendment Litigation.
