Chambers Global 2013 Rankings Recognizes Haynes and Boone


Haynes and Boone, LLP and several of its lawyers are featured in the Chambers Global 2013 legal rankings for exceptional legal service across the United States, Latin America and Mexico City.

The firm’s international Franchise and Distribution Practice Group and U.S.-based Bankruptcy/Restructuring practices were once again honored, in addition to Haynes and Boone’s Latin America and Mexico Banking & Finance and Corporate/ M&A practices.

The Franchise and Distribution Practice Group maintained its Band 2 in the Global-wide list, with sources noting the practice as “a high-class firm – a go-to group both internationally and in the USA.” Clients of Joyce Mazero, chair of the practice, said they “valued for her ‘very strong sense of what it takes to drive a business.’” She kept her individual Band 2 while fellow Partner Robert Lauer preserved his Band 3 and clients recognized him as “a great strategic thinker.”

The Latin America-wide Corporate M&A practice maintained its Band 4, with the legal listing noting the firm “has built a great reputation for its work with energy clients." Of Counsel Cecilia Flores was included in the Latin America International Arbitration category as an up-and-comer.

In Mexico, the firm’s Banking & Finance practice received a Band 3 while the Corporate/M&A practice garnered a Band 4. Finance Partner Jorge Labastida achieved a Band 2 in two practices, Banking & Finance and Capital Markets, while partners Alberto De la Pena obtained a Band 4 for the Corporate/M&A practice and Ariel Ramos was awarded a Band 1 in the Projects category.

Partner Antonio Franck was elevated to Band 2 in the Mexico Banking & Finance practice and maintained his Band 3 in capital markets practice with clients noting his ability to “handle banking and finance, M&A and capital markets work all equally well.”

Partner Jeff Becker upheld his Band 3 in the Intellectual Property: Trademark, Copyright & Trade Secrets category. Additionally, in the Bankruptcy/Restructuring practice, partners Charles A. Beckham, Jr. and Robin Phelan received a Band 3 while Robert Albergotti got a Band 2 ranking.

Larry Pascal, co-chair of the firm’s International Practice Group, was individually featured in the Latin America and U.S. Corporate/M&A category.
