Haynes and Boone, LLP Senior Counsel Jeff Civins serves as chair of the EarthxLaw Advisory Council, a blue-ribbon board of prominent environmental law practitioners brought together by EarthX to help develop programs and facilitate dialog on environmental law and policy. One of the council’s ongoing programs is an EarthxTV series entitled Law & Nature, which features lively discussions by environmental thought leaders on legal and policy issues of importance to environmental protection. As chair of the council, Civins has given introductory remarks and interviewed featured speakers during the programs.

Episode 2: ‘Election 2020 and The Future of Environmental Law’
Civins gave the introduction in the "Election 2020 & The Future of Environmental Law" program, which explores the possible outcomes of the election for the future of environmental law and the environment.
Episode 3: ‘Pathways to a Sustainable Future: Lessons from A Better Planet’
As the nation shifts from a focus on politics to efforts to develop policy, this session explores options for new initiatives and progress across the country related to energy, environment, conservation, land use, and other sustainability issues. The discussion between Civins and Yale Professor Dan Esty builds on Esty’s (edited) book, “A Better Planet: Forty Big Ideas for a Sustainable Future.”
Episode 4: ‘Celebrating EPA’s 50th Birthday’
The episode focuses on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which this month is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Civins and William K. Reilly, EPA Administrator under President George H. W. Bush, discuss what the agency has accomplished and what it might accomplish—and how else it might further its mission of protecting the environment.
