Nina Cortell Named Among Nation’s 2019 Top 250 Women in Litigation

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Nina Cortell has once again been included in Benchmark Litigation’s 2019 Top 250 Women in Litigation list, published by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. She was recognized in the Appellate, General Commercial and Securities practice areas.

In compiling the Top 250 Women in Litigation 2019 list, Benchmark spends months researching individual litigators’ professional activities, client feedback surveys and one-on-one interviews. The listing includes women who participate in “some of the most impactful litigation matters in recent history as well as by earning the hard-won respect of their peers and clients.” This year's guide includes female litigators in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

Cortell has successfully represented a wide array of clients in both trial and appellate courts in cases that have put her at the forefront of Texas litigation practice. She currently has five cases pending in the Texas Supreme Court, and, in that court’s 2016-2017 term, she secured two wins for ExxonMobil Corp. in cases involving the Texas anti-SLAPP statute and agency law. And in the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, she recently represented Trinity Industries in a landmark reversal of a $636 million False Claims Act judgment and Texas Capital Bank in defeating multimillion-dollar lender liability claims. Her recent trial court victories include dismissals in shareholder derivative suits for AT&T.
