Five Haynes and Boone Lawyers Named Law360 Rising Legal Stars

DALLAS – Law360's Rising Legal Stars has singled out five up-and-coming Haynes and Boone, LLP attorneys in the selection of 120 of the nation’s leading lawyers under age 40.

Haynes and Boone boasts the most overall winners from a single law firm. With two attorneys named to the energy list, the firm also is the only firm with multiple honorees in a single category.

The attorneys are:

Matthew Deffebach, selected in Labor and Employment: Mr. Deffebach is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a labor and employment law specialist. He has assisted in various employment and workplace safety matters, including employment litigation, occupational safety and health matters and counseling and management training.

Paul Dickerson, selected in Energy: Mr. Dickerson is experienced in all aspects of clean tech and energy efficiency. He launched Haynes and Boone's clean tech practice in 2008, building upon the firm's broad experience in intellectual property, litigation, technology, financing and many other legal issues that companies in the nascent industry must face. Mr. Dickerson previously served as chief operating officer of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).

Diana Liebmann, selected in Energy: Ms. Liebmann represents clients in regulatory matters before federal and state energy regulatory bodies. She assists clients in corporate and transactional matters including project development of renewable and conventional generation, in drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements for long and short-term sales, including the sale of renewable energy credits and advising clients with regard to regulatory benefits and impediments to transactions. She also assists clients in litigation associated with conduct in the electric markets including litigation over power deals and litigation of market rules and protocols.

Purvi Patel, selected in Intellectual Property: Ms. Patel specializes in trademark and copyright law. In particular, she focuses her practice on brand management, including the procurement, protection, enforcement and management of domestic and international trademark portfolios. She also has extensive experience with trade dress counseling and enforcement; intellectual property licensing; copyright counseling, enforcement and protection; domain name disputes; advertising clearance; and false advertising matters.

Bane Phillippi, selected in Environmental: Bane Phillippi concentrates his practice in the areas of water rights, regulatory enforcement and compliance, environmental issues associated with oil and gas facilities and real estate transactions, and environmental litigation. Mr. Phillippi is currently an active officer in the United States Navy Reserve.

After receiving hundreds of nominations, Law360 editors whittled down reader nominees to 10 standout lawyers under 40 years old in 12 practice categories. According to the publisher, the list's exclusivity "makes the myriad professional accomplishments of the individuals chosen as Law360's Rising Legal Stars all the more impressive."
