Haynes and Boone, LLP Associate Andrew Guthrie has been selected to receive the American Bar Association’s 2020 Rosner & Rosner Young Lawyer Professionalism Award.
The award recognizes a young lawyer who has demonstrated a commitment to legal and judicial ethics, lawyer professionalism, client protection, and professional regulation.
The fund and award are named by donor Seth Rosner in honor and in memory of his father, New York lawyer and philanthropist Oscar S. Rosner, and his brother, Jonathan L. Rosner. The award is supported by the Rosner and Rosner Justice Fund and administered by the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility.
Guthrie was chosen by a selection committee of leaders from the ABA Center from Professional Responsibility and the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division, as well as Seth Rosner. As the 2020 award recipient, Guthrie was also appointed as an ex officio member of the inaugural ABA Center for Professional Responsibility’s New Lawyer Steering Committee.
Guthrie focuses his practice on appeals and critical trial court briefing across an array of subject matters, including business disputes, products liability, intellectual property, the False Claims Act, probate and trusts, and water rights. He was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to serve on the Professional Ethics Committee for the State Bar of Texas from 2017-2020. He was named “Appellate Lawyer of the Week” in February 2016 by Texas Lawyer, after successfully arguing a pro bono First Amendment case to the Fifth Circuit despite being retained mere weeks before oral argument.
Guthrie serves as a deacon at his local congregation and a small-group leader in the high school ministry. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Christian Unity Ministries.
