Haynes and Boone Announces 2018 Class of New Partners

Haynes and Boone, LLP is proud to announce the promotion to partnership of nine lawyers from the firm’s Dallas, Mexico City and Richardson offices.

The new partners are Troy Christensen, Erin England, Cory Feldman, Charlie Jones, Patricia Mastropierro, Timothy Newman, Michael Parsons, Blaine Statham and Clint Wilkins

Troy Christensen 

Troy Christensen is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group in the Dallas office. His practice includes real estate joint ventures and private equity transactions. Christensen has extensive experience representing real estate developers and equity investors in structuring, negotiating, and documenting limited liability companies, partnerships, and other business entities. He also regularly advises clients in private equity investments and the formation and operation of private equity funds and real estate funds. Christensen received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 2001 and his juris doctor magna cum laude from Tulane University in 2005. 

Erin England

Erin England is a member of the Finance Practice Group in the Dallas office. England has represented some of the world’s largest institutions in connection with structuring, negotiating and documenting domestic and international corporate and financing transactions, including capital commitment subscription financing, mergers and acquisitions financing, general corporate matters, and a variety of real estate transactions, including construction loans and permanent real estate-secured loans. She was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Lawyers directory, Thomson Reuters, in 2017. In addition to her practice, England is active in several organizations committed to the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse attorneys, including Haynes and Boone's Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Diversity Committee, which she co-chaired for two consecutive terms. England is a devoted advocate for positive change in her community, and is a member of the Leadership Dallas Class of 2018, the Women’s Finance Exchange of Dallas, where she served two consecutive board terms, and the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Young Leaders Society. She received her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 2003 and her juris doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2008.

Cory Feldman 

Cory Feldman is a member of the Finance Practice Group in the Dallas office. Feldman has represented lenders and borrowers in connection with structuring, negotiating and documenting financing transactions, including a variety of real estate-secured financings, syndicated credit facilities, merger and acquisition financings, and unsecured investment grade facilities. She was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Lawyers directory, Thomson Reuters, from 2015-2017. Feldman is actively involved in the community, including as a board member of Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas and American Jewish Committee (Dallas Region), as a past officer of the Texas Business Law Foundation and as a member of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, Women’s Finance Exchange of Dallas, Ben-Gurion Society, Cardozo Society and Mustang Mentor Exchange. She was named an Outstanding Attorney Under 40 by the Cardozo Society Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas in 2014. Feldman received her bachelor’s degree with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and her juris doctor cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2009.

Charlie Jones

Charlie Jones is a member of the Litigation and Intellectual Property Practice Groups in the Dallas office. Jones’s practice focuses on intellectual property and commercial litigation in state and federal courts and arbitrations. His experience both in and out of the courtroom is diverse, serving companies facing a wide range of legal matters in multiple industries. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trademark infringement litigation, complex commercial litigation, partnership and close corporation disputes, lender liability, and bankruptcy litigation. Jones serves clients in the high-tech, electric energy, oil and gas, heavy equipment, professional sports, commercial real estate, marketing and brand management, banking, securities, information technology, retail, and publishing/media industries. Prior to attending law school, he worked for an international pharmaceutical manufacturer providing quality assurance and control in support of the development and manufacture of sterile injectable drugs. Jones was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Lawyers directory, Thomson Reuters, from 2014-2017. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999 and his juris doctor summa cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2008.

Patricia Mastropierro

Patricia Mastropierro is a member of the International Practice Group, splitting her time between the Dallas and Mexico City offices. She has worked for more than 15 years advising companies doing business in Latin America and the Caribbean, assisting with cross-border projects, including commercial transactions and regulatory, aviation and litigation matters. Mastropierro has very deep experience on aviation matters. She has advised airlines in a broad range of legal matters in the region, including setting up and maintaining operations, and obtaining applicable permits, airport authorizations and slots. For several years, she has represented one of the biggest U.S. airlines and its regional airlines in more than 35 jurisdictions worldwide. She was recognized by Latinvex as one of the top 100 Female Latin American lawyers in 2017. Mastropierro also was named a Latin America Rising Legal Star by Latinvex in 2015. She received her juris doctor from Universidad Catolica Argentina in 1996 and her master of laws degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2001. 

Timothy Newman 

Tim Newman is a member of the Litigation Practice Group in the Dallas office. A former federal law clerk, Newman represents clients in government enforcement actions, cybersecurity matters and complex litigation, including class actions and securities litigation. He has extensive experience representing organizations and executives under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and state regulators. He also represents companies investigating major data breaches. Newman was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Lawyers directory, Thomson Reuters, from 2016-2017. He also was selected as the 2016-2017 Outstanding First-Year Director by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and as the 2015 Outstanding Committee Chair by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. Newman received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, and he received his juris doctor from William & Mary Law School in 2009.

Michael Parsons

Michael Parsons is a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Richardson, Texas, and Palo Alto, California, offices. Parsons is a registered patent attorney who has experience in many aspects of patent law, including post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; U.S. and foreign patent acquisition; and patent litigation. Parsons defends some of the largest technology companies in the world against allegations of patent infringement using the post-grant review process offered by the USPTO. He also works with clients in developing patent portfolios covering their most important technologies. His experience includes working with both U.S. and foreign patent offices and foreign counsel to obtain patents worldwide. Prior to law school, Parsons was a software engineer for a startup company in Portland, Oregon. His software experience was focused on mobile device technology and client server systems. Parsons received his bachelor’s degree from Pacific University in 2001 and his juris doctor cum laude from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) in 2008.

Blaine Statham

Blaine Statham is a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group in the Dallas office. His practice is focused on mergers, acquisitions, private equity investments, joint ventures and other corporate matters in a broad range of industries. Statham has experience representing both corporate strategic and private equity clients in structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing public and private mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, including assisting private equity funds with the purchase, ongoing representation and sale of portfolio companies in a broad range of industries. He was named a “Rising Star” by the Texas Super Lawyers directory, Thomson Reuters, from 2016-2017, and was recognized as a "Best Lawyer in Dallas" in mergers and acquisitions by D Magazine, D Magazine Partners, in 2014 and 2016, and as a “Best Lawyer in Dallas” in corporate securities/capital markets by D Magazine in 2014. Statham received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in 2004 and his juris doctor from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2009.

Clint Wilkins 

Clint Wilkins, Ph.D., is a member of the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Richardson, Texas, office. Wilkins helps clients both protect their innovations and defend their intellectual property rights, focusing primarily on patent law and leveraging his extensive technical background in electrical engineering to assist clients with inter partes reviews (IPRs), patent litigation, and patent preparation and prosecution. He has handled the complete life cycle of numerous IPRs for both petitioners and patent owners, including appeals of IPR decisions to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also has prosecuted numerous patent applications to issuance in the United States and a variety of foreign jurisdictions. Prior to attending law school, Wilkins worked for more than five years as an engineer for a leading cellphone manufacturer in its corporate research and development labs in suburban Chicago. Through his experience as a graduate student researcher, engineer and patent attorney, he is familiar with many of the major wireless technologies of the last 20 years. In recognition of his work, he received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from the Clemson University College of Engineering and Science in 2012. He received his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude in 1994, his master’s degree in 1996, and his doctorate in 1999, all in electrical engineering, from Clemson University. He received his juris doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2008.
