Haynes and Boone Earns Top Marks in Corporate Equality Index

For the second consecutive year, Haynes and Boone, LLP has earned a 100 percent rating in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. The report shows unprecedented benefits and protection among law firms for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) attorneys and staff.

“At Haynes and Boone, we believe diversity breeds success,” said Nick Even, litigation partner and head of the firm's LGBT Committee. “By embracing our differences, we gain a vantage point that enhances our work and directly benefits our clients.”

HRC Foundation President Joe Solmonese expressed gratitude for the legal community’s proactive promotion of LGBT initiatives even during a time of economic challenge. “The nation’s largest and most prestigious law firms have only stepped up their commitment to recruiting and retaining a diverse group of attorneys and staff,” he said. “Legal work in this country is deeply rooted in our nation’s core values of equality and justice for all, and law firms continue to set the gold standard for treating their LGBT employees fairly.”

The Corporate Equality Index reviewed 590 private employers, including 127 of the nation’s highest-grossing law firms. The survey rated participants on a 100 percent scale on several factors, including written non-discrimination policies and training; health insurance, bereavement and family leave policies for LGBT employees and same-sex partners; LGBT employee groups; participation in community advertising and organizations; and overall support of equal rights for LGBT people.

Haynes and Boone, LLP is an international corporate law firm with offices in Texas, New York, California, Washington, D.C., Mexico City and Moscow, providing a full spectrum of legal services. With more than 500 attorneys, Haynes and Boone is ranked among the largest law firms in the nation by The National Law Journal.
