Haynes and Boone Houston Welcomes Walter Keneally


HOUSTON – Walter Keneally has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the firm’s Energy Practice Group.

“Walter’s experience, from mid-stream energy to power projects, including a great deal of renewables expertise, greatly enhances our robust domestic and international capabilities,” said Bill Nelson, co-chair of the Capital Markets and Securities Practice Group. “He is a strong addition to our team and we look forward to utilizing his talents to meet client needs.”

Buddy Clark, head of the firm’s Energy Practice Group, said Keneally’s recruitment bolsters an already deep bench of lawyers with energy transactional and energy finance backgrounds. “Over the years, Haynes and Boone has built a solid reputation for helping clients in all facets of energy transactions from exploration and production to alternative energy,” Clark said. “Walter’s experience, particularly with midstream clients, really rounds out our resource base available to clients. Keneally represents and counsels developers, investors, utilities and contractors in all legal aspects of domestic and international energy and industrial project development, finance, and acquisitions and divestitures. He has substantial experience in the development, acquisition and sale of merchant coal, gas, biomass, solar and wind power plants, cogeneration facilities, refining and chemical plants, pipeline, processing and storage facilities and similar assets. In the past few years, his practice has focused on renewable energy projects, particularly wind and solar.

Keneally advises clients in the structuring of project ownership, including joint ventures and other special purpose entities, and negotiates and drafts equity and debt financing instruments, including non-recourse financing agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and project agreements such as turbine and module supply, balance of plant, EPC, O&M, offtake, tolling, equipment supply and other service agreements in connection with energy and industrial projects. He is recognized by Chambers Global, The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business for Projects in 2013.
