Haynes and Boone, LLP Announces Luis F. Moreno Trevino as Partner in the Mexico City Office

MEXICO CITY – Haynes and Boone, LLP announces that Luis F. Moreno Trevino has made partner with the firm in their Mexico City office.  Mr. Moreno will be a part of the firm’s rapidly expanding international practice.
Mr. Moreno joined the firm in January 1997 and since then has concentrated on broad private and public sector work where he has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, finance, real estate and oil and electricity.  He has also participated in a number of syndicated bank loans, debt restructuring of Mexican companies, privatization of government-controlled companies, development and construction financing of golf and residential projects in Mexico, and acquisition of hotels and airline companies by multinational corporations.
Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, LLP, Mr. Moreno was International Legal Counselor for the law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York City as well as an associate attorney for the founding partner of the law firm of Santamarina y Steta, S.C., in Mexico City.
Mr. Moreno is licensed in both Mexico and New York State (1991; 1997 respectively).  He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association; American Bar Association; International Bar Association; International Association of Young Lawyers; Texas-Mexico Bar Association; and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
He graduated with his L.L.M. from the University of Houston in 1993. Prior to that, in 1991, he earned his J.D. Faculty of Law, with honors, from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.  Mr. Moreno speaks both English and Spanish.
Moreno has published various articles on “Sovereign Immunity from a State’s Jurisdiction” and “International Financing Alternatives for Pemex”, on the Pemex-Lex Journal, “Access to US Capital Markets for Foreign Issuers: Rule 144A Private Placements” on the Houston Journal of International Law and “Privatization Process of Mexican Airports: Its Impact & Opportunities” on the Texas Transnational Law Quarterly.
