Haynes and Boone, LLP Announces M. Ann Newton as Partner in the Houston Office

HOUSTON,  – Haynes and Boone, LLP announced that M. Ann Newton has made partner with the firm in their Houston office, as part of the firm’s Technology Practice.
“The addition of Ann as a partner in our Technology Practice, which includes more than 50 attorneys firmwide, and her particular experience in information and energy technology, has greatly enhanced our ability to service our clients’ expanding technology legal issues,” said Chuck Powell, head of the firm’s Technology Practice in Houston.
Ms. Newton joined the firm July 8, 1998 and since then has concentrated on representing large and small companies in their day-to-day legal needs with an emphasis on technology transactions.  With more than 15 years of experience, her knowledge ranges from oilfield service companies, regulated pipeline entities, armored security providers to software development and marketing companies. 
Prior to joining Haynes and Boone, Ms. Newton was Vice President and General Counsel for a privately held software company and Counsel for Tenneco Energy.
Ms. Newton is a member of the American Bar Association; Houston Bar Association; and the State Bar of Texas.  She also received the honor of being named one of 78 attorneys in the United States to the BTI Client Service All-Stars for providing superior client service.
In 1977 she graduated magna cum laude with her B.S. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, and in 1979 she earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University.  Then, in 1985, she earned her J.D. from the University of Houston.
