DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP announced Monday that partner Joyce Mazero, leader of the firm’s Franchise and Distribution Practice Group, recently received the honor of Outstanding Board Member from Dallas nonprofit agency Promise House.

Ms. Mazero is chair-elect for the Promise House board of directors and has chaired the group’s Governance Committee for the past three years.  She also led the effort to form a Leadership Council for Promise House that operates separately from the board of directors.

Promise House has provided shelter for runaway, homeless and at-risk youth since 1984.  The non-profit provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, transitional living, education, counseling, street outreach, and advocacy programs for youth and families in crisis.

Ms. Mazero, who earlier this year received the International Franchise Association’s Bonny Levine Award, currently serves as Chair of the Women’s Franchise & Distribution Forum, leading the development of the WFDF “Bootcamp for Growth.” The Bootcamp helps female entrepreneurs and franchisees to obtain the skills needed to expand their operations through franchising.  She also sits on the board of the Women’s Foodservice Forum and serves as the WFF’s Chair of Executive Development.  As Executive Development Chair, Mazero works extensively on the WFF’s Corporate Board Link program which promotes and places women on the boards of private and public companies. She has also served on many boards and committees within the IFA, including a term on the IFA Board of Directors.  She has chaired both the Advisory Council of the IFA Supplier Forum and the IFA Women's Franchise Committee Leadership Conferences 2000-2003.

Ms. Mazero also served as editorial advisor for the book “Franchising For Dummies,” and currently serves as Managing Editor of “Franchising - The World View” for Franchise UPDATE magazine.
