Haynes and Boone Partner Named Trial Lawyer of the Year

George Bramblett, Jr. to Receive the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award
Dallas, Texas – The Dallas Bar Association recently announced the 2001 recipient of the coveted Trial Lawyer of the Year for Dallas/Fort Worth -- George Bramblett, Jr. of Haynes and Boone, LLP.

This award will be given at the Bench Bar Conference’s 10th Year Celebration that will be held October 19-21, 2001 at Del Lago Conference Center on Lake Conroe near Houston.

“I was honored just to be nominated for this award,” said George Bramblett, Jr, partner at Haynes and Boone, LLP.  “But to be named the winner of such a distinguished award is truly remarkable especially considering the exceptional group of lawyers who are past recipients of this award. I am thrilled to be considered a part of this outstanding group of lawyers.”

George Bramblett began his law career in 1966 with the firm of Akin, Vial, Hamilton, Koch and Tubb, which then had about a 12 lawyers.   In 1974, he took charge of Haynes and Boone LLP.’s litigation section.  Under Bramblett’s leadership, the firm’s litigation section has grown from 4 lawyers to over 200.  He is currently a member of the firm’s executive committee.  Bramblett has handled a variety of important cases, including his representation of Texas International Airlines in the Love Field litigation in the 1970’s; his representation of Sunshine Mining Company in national tender offer litigation; his representation of Exxon in its insurance dispute with Lloyds of London following the Valdez incident and most recently his participation in the pending school finance litigation.

“George Bramblett is the consummate lawyer and truly personifies this award,” said Mark A. Shank, president of the Dallas Bar Association. “He has always handled matters with tremendous professionalism as well as being the lawyers’ lawyer.  George is frequently hired by other members of the bar to handle their disputes.  We are happy to bestow this honor upon George Bramblett, Jr. for all he does and has done for the Dallas law community.”

Bramblett is active outside the courtroom as well, including his participation on many boards, such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board of the Texas College, a trustee of the Southern Medical Foundation, Baylor College of Dentistry and the Board of Development at the University of Texas at Dallas.     

He has always felt a sense of commitment to the community as well, including his service as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Bar Association and as chairman of various committees of the American Bar Association.
