DALLAS, Texas–Haynes and Boone, L.L.P., a full-service international corporate law firm, announced that it is hosting a seminar titled “Sarbanes-Oxley: Attorney Standards of Professional Conduct” on Friday, February 28, 2003. The seminar will run from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Westin Galleria Hotel, 13340 Dallas Parkway (northeast corner of LBJ and the Tollway) in Dallas. The seminar is complimentary, with registration and continental breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. and the program beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The seminar will focus on the SEC’s adoption of new standards of professional conduct mandated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, imposing significant new duties on attorneys, and how these new rules will affect in-house counsel, management and boards of directors.  Issues to be covered include decoding the definitions, supervisory and subordinate attorneys, protecting the attorney-client privilege, comparison to Texas ethics requirements and relationships with the client and outside counsel.

Panelists and presenters include:  James Brashear, Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Sabre Holdings; Mark Stachiw, Vice President and General Counsel, Allegiance Telecom Company Worldwide; and Haynes and Boone Partners Lanny Boeing, Larry Gaydos and Bill Kleinman.  The seminar is part of Haynes and Boone’s ongoing Legal Officers Forum series.  These seminars provide practical perspectives on managing complex legal problems and counseling the Board through difficult legal situations.
