HOUSTON – Haynes and Boone, LLP announced Wednesday the firm provided counsel to Landry’s Restaurants Inc. in the recently-announced $192 million sale of the company’s Joe’s Crab Shack unit to a private equity group.

Haynes and Boone partner Arthur Berner, head of the firm’s Business Transactions Section, served as lead counsel on the deal, assisted by partner Scot Dixon and associate Bill Nelson.

Landry’s agreed to sell 120 Joe’s Crab Shack stores to JCS Holdings, a unit created by private equity group J.H. Whitney Capital Partners for the acquisition.  Landry’s will retain 23 Joe’s Crab Shack locations, but those locations will be converted to another Landry’s venture, closed or sold.
