Haynes and Boone, Represents State of Texas in Record Environmental Recovery

Austin, Texas - Haynes and Boone, LLP represented the State of Texas in a record environmental recovery. Texas Attorney General John Cornyn and The United States Department of Justice announced a $35 million settlement with Koch Industries. This settlement covered two lawsuits for penalties and injunctive relief under state law and the federal Clean Water Act. The consent decree was lodged in the Southern District of Texas, and resolves the second suit, filed in the Eastern District of Oklahoma, as well. This settlement represents the largest penalty collected by the State of Texas under state environmental laws and by the federal government under the Clean Water Act.
