Haynes and Boone Wins Two Global M&A Network Atlas Awards

Global M&A Network has awarded Haynes and Boone, LLP two Atlas awards, recognizing the firm for the 2014 Mexico Deal of the Year and U.S. Deal of the Year/Large Market category. The award annually honors top deals, dealmakers and firms.

The Mexico Deal of the Year recognized Haynes and Boone’s role as legal advisor to Grupo Fermaca in a $750 million Mexican natural gas infrastructure transaction. The firm’s deal team represented Grupo Fermaca in connection with the acquisition by Swiss-based private equity firm Partners Group of a majority stake in Fermaca from New York private equity firm, Ospraie.

The Haynes and Boone cross-border deal team included New York Counsel George H. Wang and Mexico City Foreign Associate Cesar Ramirez-Del Angel. Groupo Fermaca’s in-house counsel Laura Trejo Chaparro also advised on the transaction.

The firm won the U.S. Deal of the Year/Large Market for its role in the WhiteWave Foods Company $600 million acquisition of Earthbound Farm from investor groups including Kainos Capital and founders Drew and Myra Goodman.

The firm’s deal team was led by Dallas Partner Jan Sharry, while Dallas Partner John McGowan, New York Partner Sam Lichtman, Dallas Associates Brandon McCoy, Anthony Montague and Suzie Trigg, and Houston Associate Kendall Hollrah assisted in the transaction.

Honorees are selected based on criteria such as deal novelty/structure, sector/jurisdiction/market complexities, synergies/rationale/style, financial value, brand competitiveness, leadership, tenacity, resourcefulness and additional related metrics.

Winners were recognized at the annual winners circle gala and dinner celebration at the Harvard Club of New York.
