Haynes and Boone's Barry McNeil Edits Third Edition of ABA’s Premier Guidebook to Corporate Investigations

DALLAS – Barry McNeil, a partner with Haynes and Boone, LLP, is Co-Editor of the Third Edition of Internal Corporate Investigations, the widely published handbook from the American Bar Association.

Mr. McNeil defends companies and executives before juries throughout the country in class actions, corporate criminal prosecutions and parallel civil proceedings.  He is also retained by Special Litigation Committees of publicly held companies to conduct internal corporate investigations arising under federal and state securities and antitrust laws, federal criminal statutes and conspiracy to defraud violations.

Corporate investigations remain the single-most effective management tool for uncovering wrongdoing and instituting remedial relief.  Today, more and more companies are vesting legal counsel with a broad mandate to investigate conduct, fashion remedies and communicate findings – good or bad – to enforcement authorities.  In Internal Corporate Investigations, Mr. McNeil and Brad Brian, a partner in the Los Angeles firm of Munger, Tolles & Ollson LLP, display their years of experiences as well as those of renown practitioners throughout the Bar.

“The myriad of federal and state regulations requiring corporations to implement compliance programs and initiate internal investigations to address allegations of misconduct have accelerated the need for corporate investigations,” Mr. McNeil said.  “It is important to provide accurate, current, and reliable resources for our colleagues to turn to, whether for a comprehensive review or to use as a quick reference guide.”

As a member of Haynes and Boone’s Specialized Litigation Practice Group, Mr. McNeil represents Fortune 500 companies in Internal Corporate Investigations and in proceedings before the SEC and in lawsuits involving claims of monopolization, price fixing, healthcare fraud and securities violations.

Mr. McNeil is ranked as one of fifteen top litigators in the trial bar by International Commercial Litigation, as one of ten top lawyers in Texas by Texas Monthly, and as one of three top antitrust lawyers in Dallas, Texas by D Magazine.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a former Chair of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.
