Haynes and Boone Partner Autumn Highsmith Honored by Texas Bar Foundation

January 11, 2017

Haynes and Boone, LLP proudly congratulates Partner Autumn Highsmith who has been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout Texas.

Selection as a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas. Only one-third of one percent of State Bar members are invited to become fellows. Election is a mark of distinction and recognition of the contributions Highsmith has made to the legal profession.

At the firm, Highsmith is a member of the Bankruptcy and Business Restructuring Practice Group. She has spent her career representing debtors, secured creditors, unsecured creditors, administrative agents, lessors, asset purchasers, and other parties in complex bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy restructuring matters and advising corporate clients in their business dealings with financially distressed counterparties. Highsmith has handled many aviation bankruptcy matters and serves as go-to counsel for her aviation clients. She served as special counsel to American Airlines and its affiliates in their chapter 11 bankruptcies during which she assisted with the renegotiation of many of American Airlines’ purchasing, marketing, human resources and intellectual property agreements and real estate leases.

When not working on behalf of her clients, Highsmith is a member of the John C. Ford American Inn of Court and the Dallas Fort-Worth chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation. She also serves on Haynes and Boone’s Attorney Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the State Bar of Texas Mock Trial Committee as an attorney advisor for a local high school mock trial team.
