Managing IP Magazine Praises Haynes and Boone IP Practice, Lawyers as “Highly Recommended” 2015 IP Stars for Third Year in a Row

Six Haynes and Boone, LLP partners have been named IP Stars, and the Intellectual Property Department has been voted to the top Texas tier in the IP Stars ranking by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine. The magazine also ranked the firm nationally for its litigation work at the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Haynes and Boone Partners Purvi Patel Albers, Jeff Becker, Randall Brown, Andrew Ehmke and David McCombs of Dallas and Kenneth Parker of Orange County, Calif., all repeated their appearances in the publication’s third annual IP Stars list.

IP Star honorees were nominated by their peers and in-house counsel, with final selection based on extensive research among IP practitioners.

The magazine singled out Becker, Brown and Albers for special attention in the firm’s ranking as one of the ten “highly recommended” Texas firms for IP legal work.

Editors noted that Brown, as chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Department, concentrates his practice on patent prosecution involving the chemical arts and pharmaceuticals among other specialty areas. Albers, the magazine noted, heads up the Trademark Practice Group at Haynes and Boone and concentrates her practice on brand management and building and managing trademark portfolios for domestic and international clients.

Becker, the editors said, “is another standout name at the firm,” and is “considered one of the leading trademark and copyright lawyers in Texas.” He is also involved in a host of internet-related issues including cybersquatting and the emerging realm of gTLD's, the magazine pointed out.

The publication went on to highlight the firm’s IP practice, which is comprised of more than 100 lawyers who represent clients in patent litigation matters in the district courts, ITC and PTAB. Haynes and Boone’s IP lawyers also focus on federal and state trademark and copyright litigation and trade secrets litigation. In Texas, more than 70 IP lawyers are located across offices in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston.
