September 25, 2019

Haynes and Boone, LLP and its Mexican affiliate, Haynes and Boone, SC has again been ranked in the 2019 edition of the Legal 500 Latin America directory of leading law firms.

The Legal 500 analyzes the capabilities of law firms and lawyers, based on feedback from more than 300,000 corporate counsel worldwide. The Legal 500 is an independent guide, and firms and individuals are recommended purely on merit.

Legal 500 Latin America recognized seven lawyers in Mexico City in the 2019 directory: Nicolas Borda, William “Hunt” Buckley, Rafael Carmona, Eduardo Corzo, Edgar Klee, Mauricio Reynoso and Jorge Sanchez.

Additionally, Nicolas Borda was selected as a “Leading Individual” for the Energy and Natural Resources practice.

Legal 500 ranked the following practice areas:

  • Banking and Finance: The publication notes that Haynes and Boone’s Banking and Finance group is a “capable team of five practitioners who handle all manner of transactional and regulatory matters.”
  • Energy and Natural Resources: The firm has “good stable of highly experienced lawyers advising clients on upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas.” Researchers comment on Borda’s “incredibly strong reputation” and his support by a “knowledgeable and capable team,” which includes “experienced” lawyers Buckley and Corzo.
  • Projects and Infrastructure: The practice is recognized for its “strong track-record advising on energy-related infrastructure projects including renewables and oil and gas.” Borda was noted as a “leading figure in the market” and Sanchez is recognized for his “experience of mining projects.”
  • Tax: Legal 500 commented on “recommended practice head Edgar Klee” who leads a “small-but-capable” team that includes Reynoso.
