Managing IP Magazine Praises Haynes and Boone IP Practice, Lawyers as “Highly Recommended” 2014 IP Stars for Second Year in a Row

For two consecutive years, seven Haynes and Boone partners from three offices have been named IP Stars, and the Intellectual Property Practice Group has been voted to the top Texas tier in the IP Stars ranking by Managing Intellectual Property Magazine.

Haynes and Boone partners Jeff Becker, Randall Brown, Andrew Ehmke, David McCombs and Purvi Patel of Dallas, Kenneth Parker of Orange County, California, and Bradley J. Olson of Washington, D.C., all repeated their appearance in the publication’s second annual IP Stars list.

IP Star honorees were nominated by their peers and in-house counsel, with final selection based on extensive research among IP practitioners.

The magazine singled out Becker, Patel and Brown for special attention in the firm’s ranking as one of the ten “highly recommended” Texas firms for IP legal work.

As chair of the firm’s intellectual property department, Brown concentrates his practice on patent prosecution involving the chemical arts and pharmaceuticals among other specialty areas. Patel, meanwhile, heads up the firm’s trademark group and concentrates on brand management and building and managing trademark portfolios for domestic and international clients. And Becker, the magazine said, “is another standout name at the firm” who is “considered one of the leading trademark and copyright lawyers in Texas.”

The publication went on to highlight the firm’s IP practice, which is comprised of more than 90 lawyers who represent clients in patent litigation matters in the district courts, ITC and PTAB. Haynes and Boone’s IP lawyers also focus on federal and state trademark and copyright litigation, trade secrets litigation, and USPTO and PTAB proceedings.

“Being judged at the top of your profession by fellow lawyers and our clients is always gratifying,” said Terry Conner, Haynes and Boone’s Managing Partner. “In the case of our national IP practice, it has come to be expected. This group has performed in an extraordinary manner for the corporations we represent, and the appreciation is obvious as honors like this keep rolling in.”

In addition to being recognized for their patent and trademark work, Brown, Ehmke, McCombs, Olson and Parker will be featured in Managing IP’s patent firm and IP Stars analysis, which is scheduled to be published in June.

The praise from Managing Intellectual Property arrives just after the 2014 edition of the World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 again awarded the firm’s trademark practice group both a national silver ranking, making it tied for fifth nationally, and a Texas gold ranking, the highest possible.
