National Diversity Council Honors Felicity Fowler as a 2013 Most Powerful and Influential Woman of Texas

DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP PartnerFelicity A. Fowler has been selected one of the 2013 Most Powerful and Influential Women of Texas by the National Diversity Council, a non-profit organization that advocates workforce diversity through training, consulting, programs and education.

“Felicity is a champion for diversity initiatives,” said Terry Conner, Haynes and Boone managing partner. “Her passion for mentoring, celebrating diversity and creating opportunities for diverse lawyers has led to this terrific honor. We are very proud.”

Honorees were considered through a nomination process and selected based on leadership, professional accomplishments, involvement in the community, ethical standards and professional excellence.

Dennis Kennedy, founder and CEO of the National Diversity Council, noted that it is “the vision and commitment of these leaders that contributes to the advancement of women in senior leadership positions within the workplace and community.”

In addition to serving as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice, Fowler is also the chair of the Attorney Diversity Committee (ADC), which is made up of more than 60 members, including firm partners, associates and key members of firm management. Under Fowler’s leadership, the ADC has enacted diversity and equality-related firm policies and programs, and implemented innovative initiatives designed to drive minority, women and LGBT hiring and retention.

She also has spearheaded diversity programs, including the firm’s biennial Minority Attorney Retreat, a two-day event hosting participants from the firm’s 12 offices and featuring a speaker panel comprised of a select group of firm clients and members of the business community. During the event, panelists offer insight into how diversity affects their businesses, their relationships with outside counsel, and how it informs their decision-making process. Additionally, Fowler launched the firm’s Women’s Leadership Academy, a program that provides a forum for female associates to meet and learn from established firm partners and guest speakers including clients and industry professionals

Fowler was recognized April 4 at the 9th annual Texas Diversity and Leadership Conference in Dallas.
