Open Government Seminar Features Haynes and Boone Partner Laura Prather


DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Laura Prather will be member of the Open Government Seminar panel at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting June 21 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

The panel will discuss the recently enacted legislation and other developments in the open government arena. Other panelists include Texas Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) and Michael Schneider of the Texas Association of Broadcasters.

Prather is a partner in the Business Litigation Practice Group in the Austin office of Haynes and Boone. She focuses her practice on First Amendment privacy, and intellectual property counseling and litigation arising out of both traditional and online media contexts. In addition, Prather is an advocate and lobbyist for open government and First Amendment concerns at the legislature.

As the lead author and negotiator of the reporter’s privilege and anti-strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP) statute, Prather is an authority in media law serving an extensive array of content providers, including online and traditional newspapers, magazines, radio and broadcasters, cable television stations, production companies and music and sports entities.
