Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Rafael Anchia has been named one of Texas Lawyer’s Extraordinary Minorities in Texas Law.

The prestigious honor, awarded only once every five years, celebrates Mr. Anchia’s impact on local and statewide politics and his embodiment of the strength and diversity that defines Texas and its legal community. Mr. Anchia was one of 25 finalists selected from about 400 nominations.

Mr. Anchia is joined by other notable Texas minority leaders, including Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins, Texas House of Representatives Parliamentarian and Special Counsel Denise Davis, Texas Solicitor General James Ho and State Senators Rodney Ellis and Royce West.

Mr. Anchia is serving his third term as Texas State Representative for District 103, which includes parts of Dallas, Irving, Carrollton and Farmers Branch. He was named Texas Monthly’s "Rookie of the Year" during the 79th Legislative Session and one of the "10 Best Legislators" during the 80th Legislative Session. Mr. Anchia is the vice-chair of the Texas House of Representatives' Pensions, Investments and Financial Services Committee.

Prior to joining the Texas House of Representatives, Mr. Anchia represented District 7 on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees from 2001-2004, where he oversaw a $1 billion budget, 19,000 employees and almost 220 schools in the nation's 12th largest school district.
In his practice as a corporate partner at Haynes and Boone, Mr. Anchia represents financial institutions and public and private funds in a variety of transactions involving senior and subordinated debt and equity, domestic and international syndications and distressed debt acquisitions and sales.
