Sakina Rasheed Foster Appointed 2016 DBA Secretary-Treasurer

Haynes and Boone, LLP Counsel Sakina Rasheed Foster has been appointed secretary-treasurer of the Dallas Bar Association (DBA) for 2016.

Foster previously served the DBA as director (2014) and advisory director (2013). She is also active in the Dallas Asian American Bar Association (DAABA), one of three minority bar associations affiliated with the DBA. Foster was elected president-elect of DAABA in 2013 and served as the organization’s president in 2014, becoming only the second South Asian female president in DAABA’s 26-year history.

Through her involvement and leadership in DAABA, Foster was able to help raise significant funds for DAABA’s scholarships, breaking through records for fundraising in previous years. These funds not only helped DAABA give law students and young lawyers scholarships, it also helped the organization serve its members and the community, by funding service projects, programming and social events at little or no cost to members.

In addition, Foster is also involved with the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (DAYL), who recently awarded her their 2015 DAYL Outstanding Young Lawyer Award. The honor recognizes an attorney who exhibits service to the profession and the bar, a reputation for the advancement of legal ethics and professional responsibility, service to the community, and overall professional excellence.

At the firm, Foster is counsel in the firm’s Finance Practice Group. Her practice is focused on the representation of financial institutions and borrowers in commercial loan transactions. She earned her J.D. from The University of Texas in 2003 and her B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 2000.
