Press Release

Micah Skidmore Named 2021 National Law Journal Insurance Law Trailblazer

March 02, 2021

The National Law Journal (NLJ) featured Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Micah Skidmore among Insurance Law Trailblazers for 2021.

Published in NLJ‘s March 2021 issue, the Insurance Law Trailblazers listing recognizes professionals who have been agents of change and who have made positive contributions to their industry in the past year.

In the profile, Skidmore discusses how he shifted into working on insurance law cases while working in Haynes and Boone’s Securities Litigation Practice Group. After realizing his strengths as an insurance lawyer, he has gone on to obtain favorable settlements for multiple clients. One example mentioned in the profile was his work successfully representing Texas-based Spec’s retail chain in a case involving coverage for a credit card breach. Skidmore was able to help the client get coverage under a directors and officers (D&O) liability policy, which is unusual for a breach claim.

The profile also highlights Skidmore’s thoughts on the use of technology in the legal industry.

“When lawyers figure out how to leverage the benefits that technology has provided for other sectors, it will have a tremendous impact on how clients use legal services,” he stated. “It may or may not involve artificial intelligence, but more the ability to benefit from all the data that is available to make better decisions.”
