Texas Diversity Council Awards Haynes and Boone the 2013 Gulf Coast Corporate Commitment Award

HOUSTON – Haynes and Boone, LLP has been honored with the 2013 Gulf Coast Corporate Commitment Award, recognizing the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in the business community, by the Texas Diversity Council (TDC), a non-profit organization focused on educating organizations on diversity and inclusion.

The firm was nominated and chosen by the TDC staff and Gulf Coast Advisory Board, which considered criteria including corporate culture, diversity programs, commitment to recruitment and retention of individuals of all populations and diversity initiatives that establish and foster a more inclusive and equitable work/learning environment.

“Earning this award is evidence that organizations and individuals recognize the value of diversity in today’s global market,” said Dennis Kennedy, Texas Diversity Council founder and chief executive officer. “I am pleased to recognize Haynes and Boone for all of their accomplishments.”

Haynes and Boone’s educational initiatives and other programs aimed at bolstering minority recruiting and retention are overseen by the firm’s Attorney Diversity Committee, which is comprised of 60 attorneys and members of management who meet once a month to advance the firm’s diversity efforts, such as the Minority Associate Sponsor Program, the Minority Attorney Retreat and the Women’s Leadership Academy.

Haynes and Boone was presented the award at the 2013 Gulf Coast Best Practices & DiversityFirst™ Awards luncheon in Houston. Past award recipients include corporations such as AT&T and the City of Houston.
