World Trademark Review Once Again Applauds Haynes and Boone’s Coast to Coast Trademark Practice

DALLAS – “Whether devising and implementing international protection strategies, managing global portfolios, litigating high-stakes cases or advising on cutting-edge issues such as online advertising, this ensemble consistently outperforms most of the competition.” So states the 2015 issue of the World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000, the only standalone publication to recommend individual practitioners and their firms exclusively in the trademark field, about the Haynes and Boone, LLP Trademark Practice Group.

WTR has for the third consecutive year awarded the firm a gold ranking - the highest possible - in Texas, and a silver ranking nationally, informing its readers that “[w]hen it comes to trademarks, Haynes and Boone sets the gold standard in the Lone Star State.” Home to more than 30 trademark attorneys and paralegals, the group has one of the largest trademark practices in the Southwest and is touted by WTR for delivering “custom-built solutions at reasonable prices.”

“Hailed as world class by clients” is practice chair Purvi Patel Albers, an “all-rounder” ranked nationally by WTR for trademark prosecution and strategy and gold in Texas. Jeff Becker, recognized by WTR as “a brand ace” and “a top mind on the development of enforcement policies and strategies,” joins Patel Albers in her national and Texas gold rankings, and is also ranked by WTR nationally for his trademark enforcement and litigation experience. Rounding out the three Texas lawyers who WTR states “shine with particular lustre” is David Bell, recognized in the guide as chair of the firm’s social media practice. WTR commends Bell on his experience and unwavering dedication to client service: “Few do a better job at counselling clients on technology and branding issues, or on customer service orientation.”

Haynes and Boone’s trademark practice of “incredibly high-quality lawyers” continues to strengthen its national footprint and litigation experience in New York, Washington, D.C. and California. WTR acknowledges the group’s ability to “service clients coast to coast with ease” by praising the following three of its trademark litigators in particular.

Richard Rochford, based in New York, is noted individually as he “continues to secure stunning victories for right holders in federal district courts and on appeal.” Adding to the East Coast strength in Washington, D.C., “eminent Haynes and Boone practitioner Phil Hampton is one of few who can claim to have rewritten the trademark rulebook.” As the former Assistant Commissioner for Trademarks at the USPTO, “the esteemed litigator oversaw the production of the first new edition of the Manual of Trademark Examining Procedure in almost a decade.”

Ken Parker of California adds to the group’s capabilities as “an experienced federal court litigator with cross-country experience. His experience across a wide range of complex commercial and IP suits has helped him to develop the narrative skills needed to succeed in front of a jury.”

The WTR 1000 is a guide to the world’s leading trademark legal service providers and identifies the leading players in 70 key jurisdictions globally. Guide researchers spent months conducting telephone interviews and exchanging correspondence with lawyers and clients involved with trademarks to create the list. Law firms and practitioners qualify for inclusion in the WTR 1000 upon receiving sufficient positive feedback from market sources.
