Biography

Alberto de la Peña is a trusted advisor to multinational companies navigating high-stakes international transactions and strategic cross-border projects. With more than 30 years of experience, he serves as Chair of Haynes Boone’s Mexico Practice Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s International Practice Group. He also leads the firm’s International Transactions Section and is a former member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Alberto is licensed to practice law in Mexico, Texas, and New York, uniquely positioning him to advise clients across jurisdictions with seamless legal insight.

Alberto focuses on complex international business transactions for both private and public companies, including major compliance matters and internal investigations. His practice spans a wide range of industries and legal areas, including strategic M&A, secured transactions, energy and infrastructure, nearshoring, international funds, antitrust, and NAFTA/USMCA-related matters. He also counsels on FCPA compliance, fraud investigations, franchising and distribution, aviation, telecommunications, real estate, and international litigation strategy.

A transactional lawyer with a foundation in international litigation, Alberto brings a global perspective and practical business acumen to every engagement. He regularly advises clients with operations or interests in Mexico and across Latin America, helping them structure, negotiate, and implement sophisticated cross-border deals while mitigating risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
