2019 Chambers Global Directory Highlights Seven Haynes and Boone Lawyers, Four Practices

The 2019 edition of the Chambers Global legal directory recognized seven Haynes and Boone, LLP lawyers across four practice areas as leading providers of legal services in the international marketplace.

Researchers and clients praised the firm, along with individual lawyers and a number of practice areas in the United States, Mexico and Latin America.

Global Rankings

The firm’s Franchise and Distribution Practice Group maintained a ranking in the global-wide category. The group was described as being “renowned for its franchise-related litigation and arbitration practice.” Chambers also notes that the “versatile team comprises a number of lawyers with experience as in-house counsel for franchise companies.”

Partner Rob Lauer maintained his ranking, as well, with a client praising his “technical skill and commercial mindset." Chambers also noted that Lauer “has considerable aptitude in multinational joint ventures and restructuring for hospitality corporations.”

Latin American Rankings

Chambers recognized Haynes and Boone’s Corporate/M&A Practice Group in the Latin America-wide rankings. The practice is known for representing “significant international clients, especially those with investments in the energy, aviation and real estate sectors, in an array of corporate transactions, such as M&A deals and joint ventures.”

Partner Larry Pascal was ranked again in the Corporate/M&A practice area. Commentators highlighted Pascal’s “terrific experience and knowledge of the aviation sector." Chambers noted that he “advised noteworthy corporate clients on business ventures in Brazil, Mexico and Cuba.” 

Mexico Rankings

The firm was also ranked for its Corporate/M&A practice in Mexico. The practice “maintains a roster of significant clients from the energy space, with significant expertise in cross-border transactions and corporate restructurings.”

Additionally, the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources department was also recognized “for its focus on oil and gas matters, with additional experience in the power sector.”

Partner Nicolás Borda maintained his strong ranking in the energy practice. A market commentator notes that Borda "really knows what he is talking about when it comes to oil and gas matters.” His practice “encompasses matters pertaining to the upstream, midstream and downstream.”

Partner Edgar Klee earned his Chambers ranking in the Tax Practice Group in Mexico. Chambers noted Klee’s “strong technical knowledge,” and clients praised his “has great technical skills” and remarked that “he is an empathetic lawyer."

U.S. Rankings

The firm’s Bankruptcy/Restructuring department maintained its ranking in the directory.

Partner Charles Beckham Jr. was again ranked for Bankruptcy/Restructuring practice. Chambers noted the Beckham is “a very fine lawyer with great knowledge of the industry and how best to use the law to get the best result. He is a good consensus builder, which is an important quality when representing creditors' committees."

Haynes and Boone Co-Founder and Partner Mike Boone was recognized as a Senior Statesperson in the Corporate/M&A Practice Group. He is regarded by sources as a “force to be reckoned with” and “garners a great deal of respect for his experience in corporate law.” Chambers also noted that Boone is “terrific and very well connected.”

Partner David McCombs also received an individual banding in the Intellectual Property: Patent Practice Group. He is cited as having a “strong Federal Circuit patent litigation practice and prominent PTAB expertise.”
