Erin England, Tim Newman Selected Among Leading Dallas-Area Professionals 'Under 40'

June 25, 2019

People Newspapers has named Haynes and Boone, LLP Partners Erin England and Tim Newman to its 20 Under 40 list for 2019.

The colleagues were profiled in a special section of People Newspapers, an affiliate of D Magazine. The publication highlights young adults in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow who are making a name for themselves and making a difference in their community. The 20 Under 40 list appears in the Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People, two Dallas-based sister publications.

Erin England

The publication states that Erin’s “dedication and strong work ethic helped her make D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas list, but she doesn’t stop at practicing law. Erin is also on the boards of several community organizations, such as the Town North YMCA and the Dallas Women Lawyers Association.

Though she considers delegation the hardest leadership skill she has had to learn, Erin knows it is necessary to keep her life manageable, especially as part of a two-attorney household and a mom to 3-year-old daughter, Alexandra. Though her younger self may roll her eyes, Erin now considers parenthood as her most rewarding accomplishment or at least tied for first with becoming a partner at Haynes and Boone.”

Erin represents some of the world’s largest institutions in connection with structuring and negotiating domestic and international complex commercial transactions.

Erin navigates her clients through the complexities of commercial transactions, with an emphasis on credit facilities to private equity funds and REITs secured by the capital commitments of fund investors, mergers and acquisitions financing, general corporate matters, and a variety of real estate transactions, including construction loans and leasing matters.

Erin is the co-chair of the Haynes and Boone Women’s Initiatives Committee and an active member of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association and the Women’s Finance Exchange of Dallas, where she served on the board for two consecutive terms, as well as the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Women's Leadership Council.

Tim Newman

Tim does not remember a time when being a lawyer wasn’t on his radar. “Growing up in a small East Texas town,” he told the publication, “lawyers were the movers and shakers and had a real impact on the community.”

Now a partner in Haynes and Boone’s Government Investigations Practice Group, Tim began his career with the firm in 2008 as a summer associate. He joined the firm full time in 2010 after working for a federal judge for one year. He is the current president of the Texas Aggie Bar Association and serves on the boards of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Tim also serves on the CONNECT Board of Capital for Kids, a network of volunteer professionals who support organizations that educate, protect, and encourage the development of North Texas children.

Tim is a litigator who represents clients in government enforcement actions, cybersecurity matters, and complex litigation. He counsels public and private companies, financial services organizations, and executives under investigation by government agencies including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and state regulators.

Tim also helps clients who have suffered major data breaches navigate the investigations, disclosures, and litigation that follow a breach, and he helps clients develop programs and policies that minimize cyber risk. A former federal law clerk, he also defends clients in complex litigation, including class actions and securities litigation.
