Global M&A Network Names Haynes and Boone as 'Top Energy M&A Firm' in U.S. and Honors 'Deal of Year'

December 10, 2018

The Global M&A Network LLC last week honored Haynes and Boone, LLP with the “U.S.A. M&A Deal of the Year” award in the Small Mid-Market Segments. As the firm partner who led the transaction, Bill Kleinman accepted the award at the 10th Annual Americas M&A Atlas Awards gala Nov. 29 in New York.

Assisted by Haynes and Boone Counsel Bo Sartain, Kleinman led the firm’s team that served as legal adviser to OraMetrix, a provider of 3-D technology solutions for orthodontic care. Dentsply Sirona acquired Texas-based OraMetrix in May for $120 million. A substantial portion of the purchase price was subject to a milestone-based earnout, qualifying it for a Deal of the Year award in the $100 million to $250 million category.

Kleinman focuses on M&A for private equity firms and strategic parties, as well corporate, securities and technology law. Besides M&A, his experience includes public offerings and private finance, strategic alliances, corporate governance and technology/commercial contracting. Sartain is a lawyer for numerous professional investors and entrepreneurs in complex financing and acquisitive transactions and has served as outside general counsel for numerous small businesses, handling matters ranging from corporate finance and corporate governance to commercial agreements, including, for example, services, distribution, licensing and other technology contracts.

The M&A awards honor the top performing firms and dealmakers in North and South America. Firms are selected on the basis of closed deals, resources, proven record, client service and team leadership, according to the Global M&A Network, which said, “winning the award equates to achieving the ‘Gold Standard of Performance’ standing in the industry, validating the firm’s and team’s capabilities.”

Also during the event, Haynes and Boone was named the nation’s top Energy M&A Law Firm and won the “Energy & Services M&A Deal of the Year” for the Alta Mesa and Kingfisher Midstream acquisition by Silver Run Acquisition Corporation, and subsequent merger.

“We are delighted to honor the achievements of top players, and above all, the winners represent vision and excellence for executing transactions in an increasingly competitive market-place. We wish all the winners continued success the year ahead,” said Shanta Kumari, CEO and Global Group Editor, at Global M&A Network.
