HIPAA Privacy Compliance

If you sponsor a group health plan, you should consider the following statistics on HIPAA privacy complaints received from representatives of the Health and Human Services Department, Office for Civil Rights ("HHS").  Representatives from the Office for Civil Rights recently stated that they are receiving approximately 100 complaints per week.  HHS received 6,400 complaints through the end of May.  HHS is investigating and tracking all of the complaints by categories.
