Sept. 8 marks Moms' Equal Pay Day, which represents how far into the year the average mom must work to earn what the average dad took home in 2021. Employment experts said employers must do more to champion the mothers in their organizations.
Moms in full-time or part-time positions earn on average only 58 cents for every $1 paid to white, non-Hispanic fathers, according to gender justice-focused organizations including Equal Rights Advocates, the National Women's Law Center and the American Association of University Women. …
"It's a good time for employers to consider pay audits if they haven't already done one," said Jason Habinsky, who heads the Labor and Employment Practice at management-side firm Haynes Boone. "That, of course, is a good way to recognize if there are any disparities in pay, including those affecting mothers."
