Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Barry Buchman has been selected to serve on Law360’s 2022 Insurance Authority Specialty Lines Editorial Advisory Board. Barry is widely recognized as a leading policyholder insurance lawyer who has successfully litigated significant insurance coverage cases around the country.
The 10-member advisory board, which includes partners at prominent U.S. law firms, will provide both feedback to Law360 on its coverage and insight into how best to shape future coverage.
A partner in Haynes Boone’s Insurance Recovery practice group, Barry represents policyholders in a variety of complex insurance coverage matters, and he has developed a particular niche handling significant disputes under specialty lines insurance policies, including director-and-officer (“D&O”) policies and professional liability/errors-and-omissions (“E&O”) policies. In that regard, Barry has successfully litigated issues of first impression regarding coverage under D&O policies for merger-and-acquisition claims, such as the scope of the “bump-up” exclusion and the scope of “control person capacity” endorsements. He also is handling a big case for a major financial institution regarding the scope of coverage under “Bankers Professional Liability” policies, a type of E&O coverage specific to financial institutions. Barry regularly publishes and speaks on insurance coverage issues, and he has been quoted in leading publications such as the Wall Street Journal, National Law Journal, and Business Insurance.
