The San Diego Business Journal named Haynes Boone Partner Jeff Morton a 2026 Leader of Influence in Technology, recognizing his leadership, professional accomplishments and contributions to San Diego's technology community. The annual award honors individuals who are helping shape the region's evolving technology landscape.
Morton serves as co-chair of the firm's Biotechnology Practice Group, where he advises clients across California and internationally on structuring and leveraging intellectual property assets. His practice focuses on immunological therapies, genomics, gene editing and agricultural technologies.
With a Ph.D. in immunology and extensive technical experience, Morton advises investment funds, corporate leaders and international counsel on intellectual property strategy, due diligence, licensing, technology transactions and IP portfolio management. His work spans the development, protection and commercialization of innovative technologies. He also serves as editor of the firm's biotechnology newsletter and previously chaired the Intellectual Property Law Section of the San Diego County Bar Association.
Morton has earned national and regional recognition for his leadership in intellectual property and biotechnology, including distinctions in IAM Patent 1000 and IAM Strategy 300, as well as inclusion in the San Diego Business Journal's SD 500 list of the region’s most influential leaders.
