Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Recognizes Kit Addleman as Woman of Distinction

October 28, 2021

Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Kit Addleman will be recognized as a Woman of Distinction at noon Friday, Oct. 29, by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX). The combined live and virtual event, presented by AT&T, celebrates women leaders who serve the community.

“We are proud to celebrate female leaders who have blazed the trail for the next generation. Their leadership, accomplishments, and community contributions inspire young females to make the world—from the classroom to the boardroom—a better place,” said GSNETX CEO Jennifer Bartkowski.

Kit is acclaimed as a lifelong supporter of the Girl Scouts and a champion for women in the workplace at Haynes Boone. She started the firm’s Women’s Initiative and served six years as the head of the Women’s Leadership Academy, a training program for senior women associates.

She also is passionate about championing girl ambition, having served as Girls Scouts of Northeast Texas board chair and executive committee chair, as well as a member of GSNETX’s Board Development, Finance, and Strategic Planning Committees. Her efforts with the Girl Scouts were recognized by the Dallas Business Journal in 2016, when the National Association of Corporate Directors named her an “Outstanding Director.”

Kit is a former Girl Scout troop leader, troop “cookie mom,” a Lifetime Girl Scout Member, and a Thanks Badge recipient (a distinguished Girl Scout volunteer honor).

“Girl Scouts has been such an amazing and impactful organization for more than 109 years. Girls are given opportunities through Girl Scouts to lead, grow and inspire in their own ways,” Kit said. “I am privileged to have been able to work with Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas in the innovative programming for girls and am so honored and humbled to have been recognized in this way.”

At Haynes Boone, Kit serves as chair of the firm’s Government Investigations and Securities Litigation Practice Group including leading the firm's SEC enforcement defense and examinations practice. She also is a member of Haynes Boone’s Investment Management Practice Group, the diversity committee, and the Women's Leadership Academy. Additionally, she co-founded the local chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association to facilitate business growth and networking for women lawyers defending government actions and investigations.

Kit previously served as the former Regional Director of the Atlanta Regional Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is a frequent speaker at regional, national, and international conferences on trends in the SEC’s enforcement and examination programs.
