Biography

Steven Allis serves as counsel in the Patent Prosecution and Counseling Practice Group at Haynes Boone’s Dallas-North office. Steven focuses on intellectual property law across a variety of technical fields, with particular emphasis on medical devices, novel materials and material applications, and algorithm- and AI-driven health features. His practice centers on maximizing value from IP assets and innovation efforts by drawing on his experience as a litigator, patent prosecutor, and patent strategy counsel. He brings significant in-house experience from two companies where he managed global IP assets for products directed at new markets. This background equips him with a comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle from initial concept to strategic market positioning, enabling him to assist companies expanding into new commercial territories.

Prior to attending law school, Steven was commissioned as a lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service and served as a regulatory reviewer at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where he oversaw the Agency’s review and decision-making for new medical products such as prosthetic heart valves, catheters, and monitoring devices. He also served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic specializing in laboratory sciences.
