Fergal Coney
Biography
Fergal Coney is an associate in the Investment Management Practice Group in Haynes Boone’s London office.
He advises established and emerging managers on the structuring of onshore and offshore funds, from initial formation through to final closing. He also provides advice on carry schemes and ongoing operational matters, and advises corporates and investors, including family offices, on fund investments and LPA terms.
Fergal also advises on general corporate matters, with a particular focus on supporting early-stage companies and their founders. This includes advising on Seed and Series A fundraising rounds, conducting due diligence and preparing equity documentation. He also assists with ongoing corporate governance and company secretarial matters.

- Advising on the launch of a first-of-its-kind fund of funds designed to increase investment in female-led venture capital in the UK. Drawing commitments from leading institutional investors, including M&G, British Business Bank, Nationwide Building Society and Barclays.
- Advising Bootstrap Europe, a prominent female-led European venture debt firm, on the structuring and formation of their fourth institutional fund, Bootstrap Europe IV.
- Advising Backed VC on the launch of Backed 3, its third fund which invests in frontier technology across the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.
- Advising an international fashion brand in relation to its debt and equity fundraising, as well as ongoing corporate and commercial advice.
- Advising a London-based venture capital firm on the launch of a number of Jersey special purpose vehicles to raise capital from third-party investors for co-investments alongside its main fund.
- Advising Isomer Capital on the launch of its third Luxembourg based VC fund of funds, which is backed by the British Business Investments, a commercial subsidiary of the British Business Bank, which has committed up to €60 million to the fund.
