Elena Guillet
Biography
Elena Guillet is an associate in Haynes Boone’s London office. She advises clients on international arbitration and complex commercial disputes, with a particular focus in the energy, infrastructure, and construction sectors. She represents clients in cross-border proceedings and helps them navigate contractual, regulatory, and sanctions-related issues arising from major international projects.
Elena experience includes disputes involving engineering and construction projects, energy infrastructure, environmental warranties, joint ventures, and maritime operations. She has worked on a large number of substantial international arbitrations (primarily under the ICC and LCIA Rules), English court proceedings and construction adjudications. She has also advised clients on UK and EU sanctions matters involving energy operations and aviation assets.
Elena also advises clients on the complex international and domestic frameworks governing deep sea mining, including the International Seabed Authority (ISA) regime and U.S. policies.

- Represented a Middle Eastern state-owned entity in an ICC arbitration involving alleged contractual breaches arising from a maritime salvage project.
- Acted in ICC arbitrations and proceedings before a dispute adjudication board arising from the design and construction of a major maritime project in Central America.
- Represented a deep sea mining company in company acquisitions, and general corporate and regulatory advice in relation to deep sea mining activities.
- Represented a deep sea mining company in planning exploration licenses and commercial recovery permits under different domestic and international regimes for activities in areas beyond national jurisdiction.
- Advised a U.S. engineering consultancy on disputes arising from the design and construction of rail infrastructure in the Middle East.
- Advised the subsidiary of a state-owned oil company on UK and EU sanctions matters.
- Represented a German engineering, procurement, and construction contractor in multiple adjudications arising from the construction of an energy-from-waste facility in England.
- Advised aircraft leasing companies on UK and EU sanctions issues related to the acquisition and sale of aircraft portfolios.
- Represented an international exploration and production company in a dispute involving environmental warranties associated with Latin American assets.
- Represented an international exploration and production company in a dispute concerning joint venture interests in West Africa.
