Li Yang, Ph.D.
Biography
Dr. Li Yang is a dedicated patent attorney, innovator, and experienced engineer. High-tech clients depend upon Dr. Yang to both obtain patents and provide technical insight in the context of high-stakes patent disputes (patent portfolio evaluation and licensing, litigation support, and post-grant proceedings).
Dr. Yang uses his extensive background in electrical and computer engineering to assist clients with issues involving complex technical subject matter. He has prepared and prosecuted patents in a variety of technologies and industries such as semiconductor fabrication, integrated circuit (IC) design, IC packaging, IC testing, power management, computing and storage devices, handheld devices, and medical devices. His patent dispute matters have involved semiconductor manufacturing, transistor design, lithography technology, data center telecommunication, IC packaging, display control, RF mixers, and data storage devices.
Prior to his legal career, Dr. Yang worked for seven years as an IC design engineer at a major semiconductor company in Dallas, Texas. His work included design of equalizers, power amplifiers, DC-DC converters, and SuperSpeed links in USB adapters. His technical knowledge includes semiconductors, telecommunications, computer networking, wireless infrastructure, and consumer electronics. He is intimately familiar with technology standard setting activities, having participated in USB working groups and standards development. He is also a co-inventor on two issued U.S. patents and a co-author of two published academic books.
