Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Michelle Scheffler has again been included on Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under List, published by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC. This is the fourth consecutive year she has been recognized in the list.
The publication recognizes notable up-and-coming litigation attorneys in the U.S. who handle major “high-stakes or precedent-setting” cases and have “established themselves in their respective fields.”
Attorneys named to the 2020 publication were chosen through several phases of research, including a review of their recent case work, assessments by attorneys at peer legal institutions, and client feedback on their performances.

Scheffler is an accomplished litigator who counsels clients in complex commercial litigation matters and also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Oil and Gas Practice Group. While her practice focuses primarily on clients in the oil and gas industry, she also handles trial and appellate matters in a variety of fields involving contract disputes, property rights and business torts. She regularly represents clients in multimillion-dollar lawsuits in both state and federal courts across the country.
In her oil and gas practice, Scheffler represents major integrated oil and gas companies, privately owned independents, and equity investors in a range of matters, including cases arising under operating agreements, lease termination disputes, royalty litigation, and complex title disputes. Scheffler also provides pre-litigation counsel to her oil and gas clients and advises on litigation risk for oil and gas transactions.
