Forum Institute for Leadership in the Law - Texas General Counsel Forum

The Texas General Counsel Forum, in cooperation with SMU?s Cox School of Business (Dallas), provides this six-day management program for general and managing counsel. This Institute for Leadership in the Law is designed to address the general counsel?s need for financial, management and leadership education.

The three, two-day session dates are February, March, and April. These courses have been granted 28.5 MCLE credits, of which 2.0 are for ethics. Each session will have 35-40 participants, and is only open to general counsel and managing counsel, though Forum membership is not required. Classes will be led by highly-qualified SMU professors, and will provide the most current information and thinking on the science of management and leadership. With the assistance of the SMU, this 47-hour executive education program has been designed by Forum general counsel, for general counsel.

Agenda:

9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Managing Change ? Learn the skills of successful change agents: create a sense of urgency, get buy-in, and focus participants on the benefits they will receive.

2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Managing Performance ? Explore various strategies to evaluate and develop employees, including skills in coaching, counseling, and methods for motivating non-performers.
