Following the U.S. Senate confirming John Squires to serve as director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Haynes Boone Partner Jon Bowser spoke with Law360 to discuss what he's hoping for as Squires takes over the USPTO.
"It feels like right now things can change at any moment," said Bowser. "Sometimes the standards can change day-by-day, and what you think used to be the standard has changed the next week."
Another key element of the current instability is significant moves in PTAB leadership, Bowser told Law360.
"There's been so much movement among the judges, and you've got to wonder what's going on behind the scenes," he said.
