Haynes and Boone, LLP received the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program’s 2019 Gold Star Award for Pro Bono Service for law firms with 150 or more lawyers in the Dallas area. This was the fifth consecutive year the firm has been honored for its outstanding pro bono services in Dallas and beyond.
Haynes and Boone was the only firm in its size category to receive the 2019 honor.
The firm accepted the award at the Pro Bono Awards Reception on Sept. 24 at the Belo Mansion in Dallas. The event recognized judges, attorneys, law firms, court reporters and legal staff who have provided free legal aid to Dallas residents who could not otherwise afford it.
“We are so proud of our lawyers and staff who have devoted their time to the firm’s pro bono efforts,” said Partner and Pro Bono and Public Service Committee Co-Chair David Taubenfeld. “The firm has devoted countless hours to pro bono causes this year, including our efforts assisting detainees at the South Texas border.”
Haynes and Boone has long been committed to providing pro bono legal aid, believing that a fulfilling professional career is much more than simply handling major business transactions or trying complex commercial lawsuits. The firm’s lawyers focus their pro bono efforts on helping those who need it most but are least able to afford legal services. The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) is an organization dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor in Dallas through the recruitment, training and support of volunteer attorneys.
